ENGINEERING??

“Engineering is the design, analysis, and/or construction of works for practical purposes.Engineers use imagination, judgment, and reasoning to apply science, technology, mathematics, and practical experience. The result is the design, production, and operation of useful objects or processes.” Hmmm @#$%^&*()

Engineering has always been fun for all the people who think like wise.I personally was into this field just because of the principle- U go, where the world goes.But still now sitting down and writing this I always feel its pissing off to be one in the crowd. People do give engineering as their top preference not knowing that there are many other amazing careers that you can focus on. Kids do come now and then and ask“What do you think I should do any simple degree (Arts & Sciences) or engineering?” For god’s sake it’s your life man. I say wherever your interest is in. Dude..its like engineering is not the only thing to do in life. There are people who earn and live a better life than what the present engineers do. It’s all on where your interest lies.
Engineering has become a disease. A better example is AP, with around 245 engineering colleges and more than one lakh engineers passing out from a single state in India, I wonder how that number shows how effectively India is successful in providing higher education. How many from those huge numbers fly to US? How many pursue another higher degree? And what percent of them are left unemployed. There are people (engineers) who do a call centre job. I am sure no one would say we are enjoying the job, its money, the need. Then why do engineering for that, any degree would have served the purpose. The essence of what engineering is being changed. People who are doing engineering also have been the strong believers in this. No-one expected (not even myself) that I would land up in Pilani. EEE was my obvious choice. Again world runs... you need to! Throughout 3 years felt this was the thing I shouldn’t have been into. Not against any of the engineering subjects though, they are amazing. Seriously again... interest should drag you there. I know I have always did something against my will. Still penning these words I am happy to be one among what world is right now.

TAGLINE: Engineering is a public loo, people in it want to come out, and people outside want to get in.

I asked few of my friends on what they think Engineering is. Here are few of their responses:

Abhi: “Engineering taught me what I’m not.”

Ashwini: “Four years of unlimited fun, 8 sems of hell, easiest of all courses containing laziest of people having the ultimate brains but using very little of them... to top it all, getting the coolest jobs with ‘ZERO’ efforts... proud to be SO CALLED ENGINEER.”

Chiku: “Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems.”

Spandana: “Wrong person!”
